Experience of the institute is really very high and worth appreciating as a model. The experiences of the mother institute, ‘we care centre’ helps the NSA to run it efficiently. The total score for 9 domains comes to 160 out 0f 180 is 88.7%. The results reveal that NSA has the credibility as a model psycho-social rehabilitation center which follows all rules and regulations and maintain its quality in all aspects of its functioning.
2. DEMOGRAPHIC DATA ANALYSIS AND ITS IMPLICATIONS BY RESEARCH TEAM, NSA
Introduction
We believe in evidence based information. Data has its own implications in the reliability of any research study. Demographic data is the basis of different types of research. In this study it has been planned to analyze the available demographic data in case files for the purpose of designing rehabilitation programmes for the women with mental health disorders residing at Nalla Samarayan Ashram – a psycho social rehabilitation center.
Objective
As we have the complete demographic data, we planned to have a thorough analysis of the demographic data to continue our study to improve the quality of life of the women who are staying in the ashram for years.
Methodology
Type of research: Survey study
Population and sample: persons with Mental Health Disorders
The women with mental health disorders residing at Nalla amarayan Ashram,
All 113 persons staying at NSA have been selected as sample
Each client has an individual record with demographic data and medical report with diagnosis
The data needed for this study are collected from these records.
Findings
During analysis of clinical conditions it was found that there are 4 major types of conditions among them. Bipolar affective disorder, depression schizophrenia. And psychosis. Women with depression tops in number (41/113).This finding reveals the importance of the diagnosis in psychosocial rehabilitation
Recommendations
We know the needs are different for different age groups. The senior group is dominating in number. Separate wing for them is in the process
Group dynamics to create relationships in mixed as well as homogenous groups are very necessary.Due to long stay the new admissions should not be affected seriously. The impact of long stay on their overall life is to be studied systematically. According to the findings actions may be taken
Conclusion
The analysis of demographic data gives more insights in various aspects of age, clinical conditions, duration of stay, socio economic conditions, and location from where they come from and so on. The service providers can use this data for designing rehabilitation programs to improve the quality of service and the life of the inmates of NSA.
